I like to make people laugh. I'm conservative. I'm an "Original Trekkie" (but I don't dress up). May The Force Be With You; Always. (Yes, this too). I jump in with both feet once I make up my mind. I have my elderly mother living with me because she needs to be with family. She's 77 years old, and in bad health (genetics)- 18 prescription drugs! I've buried everyone else in her generation on my father's side (6, and my mother-in-law), so I guess I'm the logical choice; she will expire here. I have a rebellious streak, like Don Quixote, Robin Hood, and Sir William (Braveheart). I'm 50+, married once- no children (my choice- bad genes) of my own, but the marriage included 2 boys (now grown). I'm a transplanted S. Californian who yearns for Really Honest Mexican Food made the Old Mexico Way (which I've visited many times) now living in Iowa. I hate lies and half- truths, esp. about whether this food or that food is good or bad for you. You want me to believe you, prove it. I will verify, even if it takes months (see above).
Coming up with a Sicilian Style No- boil Lasagna recipe that Mom says is better than hers (and she learned "lasagna" from a Sicilian Immigrant in the 1930's)
My biggest Cooking Disaster was inviting friends over for grilled BBQ chicken. It was the first time I ever tried to cook for 20. Nothing went right- the weather turned stormy, the chicken wouldn't cook right (the Weber couldn't decide if it was going to cook fast or slow). I started at 4PM with 10 lbs of chicken, and I didn't finish until 9:30PM. Thankfully, I had forethought to have hamburger ready, and plenty of other "stuff" to feed everyone.
Quinoa. The only grain known to be considered a perfect protein (and you thought grain was only important for fiber...) OOPS! Sorry! I guess that's not what was meant by the title of this section... How about this; Always search for the Truth, because even though it may be painful at times when you find it, lies and half-truths will always hurt more.
