About Me
No profile added.
Married 4 times with a 20 year span inbetween number 3 and the current husband. Married 3 as of St. Patrick's Day this year. Husband had bariatric surgery bringing on a whole new meaning to dining. It's just not what it used to be at all any more so cooking for 2 or less is more like it. He doesn't care much for vegetables and I do. I like small portions of veggies so buy fresh usually for myself.
My Greatest Cooking Triumph
Calico Beans has been a favorite of my kids and parents, as it's an old family recipe that supposedly dates back to the days of old and was considered a real treat. Kiwi Pies were a big hit and I used to ripen a bunch of our own vines in time for Christmas pies as gifts.
A little tricky but easy to deliver or use for functions and get togethers. Rhubarb pies were extremely popular when I grew and baked those and we also enjoyed the left over rhubarb rendered down into ice cream topping. I'm not much of a cook any more but it's a necessity and I'd like to learn more about a cookbook for those whom have had bariatric surgery as the diet isn't bad at all for myself, at my age! LOL!
My Biggest Kitchen Disaster
One Thanksgiving, I'd just mopped the floor and let it dry in between basting the turkey. When I pulled the rack out the enamel pan was close to the edge and when the rack tipped forward from the weight it came flying out of the oven and hit the door, launching the turkey towards me and it slid across the floor without getting damaged. My girlfriend grabbed it up with a lint free towel and put it back into the pan and started basting it as if nothing had happened. She just motioned with her lips shhhhh! No one knew and the next time it came out it was the prettiest turkey I'd ever seen and if I'd just mopped carefully, the floor was clean..what the heck. It was terrificly moist and the largest I'd ever prepared in my life @42#.
My Food For Thought
You are what you eat. If you eat poorly your body won't get enough nutrition and chewing and digestion is important also, so don't eat too fast, or wash your food down. Take you time and enjoy what you eat.
