Having been married for just 2 weeks, I attempted to make gravy after frying chicken, but I did not know you needed to add water or milk after cooking the drippings and some flour and seasoning together. The resulting "mess" was dense enough for a spoon to stand up in it! That was 45 years ago and my young husband actually ate it on his rice that evening. I could not stomach it! Needless to say, the next time I was with my Mother, I asked her what I'd done wrong. My gravy is much improved now!
